Extracts from Letters

"May I take this as an opportunity to write a word of appreciation and gratitude for the periodicals? They bring to me thoughts of cheer, of strength, and of encouragement. They point to a clearer understanding and to a deeper meaning of world events of to-day where otherwise there would probably be ignorance and confusion of thought. I am grateful for the privilege of being a subscriber."

"I will add that I do not know how I could get along without them [the periodicals]. For seven years now I have been here, and no Christian Scientists nearer than fifteen miles of me that I know of ... and for the past year I have been all alone; but I have the daily mail, which means very much to me. While to human sense I feel very lonely, yet through the Sentinel and the Quarterly and all the good things they contain I know God has not forsaken me. I am giving my Sentinels to the soldiers; it seems but a small amount to do, but it is all I can see my way to do at the present.

It gives me much comfort to read the expressions of gratitude of those receiving help through the War Relief and Camp Welfare committee. My husband has been able to contribute some to that cause."
