With
many others, brought up with loving care and solicitude for my spiritual welfare, I once believed that the healing effect which followed the act of the woman who pressed forward with eagerness to touch even the hem of the garment which Jesus wore, in order that she might be made whole of her malady, was due to the personal goodness of a man of flesh and blood, who in some supernatural way possessed healing power.
Doubtless
the dearest wish of all Christian Scientists is that every one in the world may understand Christian Science well enough to desire to live by it.
In his intense zeal I fear our critic does himself injustice when he insinuates that he is thoroughly conversant with the teachings of Christian Science.
In a paragraph under "Notes and Notions" reference is made to the supposed attitude of Christian Science toward pain; and although the allusion takes the form of a mild joke, still the impression is conveyed that suffering is ignored in Christian Science practice.

upon the mind of the man who is a premier of a government or the head of a great business enterprise there dawns the vision of a right method for progress in solving many great problems, his unsolved and nearest problem is to secure the cooperation of his associates.

I have received so much help and encouragement from the testimonies in our periodicals that I feel I should try to express my gratitude for all the help Christian Science has been to me, especially during the past five years.
Some years ago while feeling very weak and depressed, with a sense of utter failure and inability to be happy for long at a time, or to live what I thought to be the life of a true Christian, I cried out to one in the home that I knew I could never be either happy or well until I could love God more.
It is with the greatest pleasure that I testify to the saving power of Truth as demonstrated in Christian Science; truly, indeed, if we know the truth, the truth does make us free.
When my progress in Christian Science seems slow, and the road to understanding long, I have only to remember the numberless blessings which have come to me and to mine, to realize that my dearest possession is the never failing Science of Life, Truth, and Love.
Great and lasting benefits having come to me through the application of Christian Science, it is with much pleasure and gratitude that I add my testimony to its healing power.
Looking back over the years of suffering and distress due to physical ills, I rejoice in having been freed from bondage through the knowledge of God's goodness as learned by the study of Christian Science.
For many years I suffered from rheumatism and gradually grew worse until absolute helplessness seemed imminent; and as I was obliged to travel to earn my living, the ailment was aggravated.
Having so often been helped and encouraged by the testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal, I feel the time has come to express my deep gratitude to God for the wonderful truth revealed in Christian Science.
