I have received so much help and encouragement from the testimonies in our periodicals that I feel I should try to express my gratitude for all the help Christian Science has been to me, especially during the past five years. I was a severe sufferer from rheumatism and also from a very bad stomach trouble which affected my head. I had been in two hospitals and under the care of three specialists but was given up. I was not expected to get better, and it was thought likely that I would lose my mind. Some travelers who came to our store were Christian Scientists, and several times they spoke to me about their religion. Finally I consented to have treatment, but it seemed to take me some time to grasp Christian Science, and after several months the practitioner said she could not help me any more, as there was something I was holding back. After six months' treatment I went back to the doctors, but got worse every day and found no relief, so decided to take up Science again. It was not long before I experienced great relief, and after a few treatments the practitioner said I did not need treatment any longer. I was then in a little doubt, but I clung to the truth as given in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and am now pleased to testify that I have overcome all my sickness and doubts. I have not had any return of past ailments during the last five years. Christian Science has not only proved a great help physically but has been a great blessing spiritually, and all desire for smoking has been overcome. I therefore feel grateful for the noble work which our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has done for me and for the whole world.

I also wish to say that I have found my understanding of this truth a great help since joining the Army over two years ago and especially since coming to France. There has been some very trying weather out here and if I had not had a demonstrable knowledge of God I would not have been able to continue in good health. I get wonderful help through the ninety-first psalm and in the singing of the hymns, "Shepherd, show me how to go," and "Blest Christmas Morn" by Mrs. Eddy. I receive great blessings also from the Sentinel and Monitor which are sent to me by First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Toronto. I trust that these few remarks may do some reader good. I would not give up Christian Science for all the world.
