Six years ago I became interested in Christian Science, and after only partly reading the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I became free from a trouble which had caused me much suffering and discomfort for years. We were then in California, and prominent physicians of San Francisco had advised an operation as the only way of restoring my health. I have had no return of the ailment. We have experienced many other wonderful healings. A very painful abscess was overcome within a short time, the pain and inflammation disappearing after the first treatment. A case of erysipelas was cured with only a few absent treatments, and our three-year-old son was healed within thirty-six hours after falling and injuring his back and shoulder so badly that he could not move at all without intense suffering.

Several times we have had the help of practitioners in Sweden. One of the most remarkable healings was, I think, when our little daughter became very ill with all the symptoms of scarlet fever during a time when many in our town were suffering with the disease. We reached a practitioner over the telephone, and shortly after treatments were begun the child fell into a quiet sleep that lasted for three hours. When she awoke the high fever was nearly gone and so was the redness on her chest. She smilingly told me that she felt the practitioner had treated her, because she was much better, but she wished to sleep some more. After yet another refreshing sleep she awoke feeling entirely well. The next day being New Year's day, we took her with us on a long sleigh ride in what was considered unusually cold weather even here, but she suffered in no way after the outing.

At another time I became ill with a serious internal disorder that might have meant many months in a hospital had I turned to the medical profession for relief, but with the help of a Christian Science practitioner I was entirely well after two months. This malady was slow to yield, but I did much reading of the textbook during this time and thus gained in understanding of the truth.
