Among the Churches

Detroit, Mich. —Third Church of Christ, Scientist, has leased portions of the Duplex Theater Building on East Grand Boulevard, near Woodward Avenue, for its services. The first service in the new quarters was the testimony meeting, May 1. This is the second move to larger quarters made necessary by the growth of this church since its organization as an outgrowth from First Church a little more than five years ago.

Another step of equal, if not greater, importance in the history of Third Church, is its purchase of two large lots aggregating 130 by 175 feet on the northwest corner of Seward and Second Avenues to be used as a site for its future church home. This is one of the most beautiful residence sections of North Woodward, and it is thought will be an ideal location for the church. The buildings now on the lots will not be disturbed until the church is ready to start building operations.

The other three Christian Science churches in Detroit are assisting in paying for the lots, this cooperative method of financing Christian Science church building having been adopted several years ago when Second Church built its edifice, and again carried out in the more recent building of the handsome First Church structure at Cass and Hancock Avenues, which was dedicated last November.—Detroit Times.
