I took up the study of Christian Science about twelve...
I took up the study of Christian Science about twelve years ago, not for physical healing, but to investigate its teaching. I found what I had been looking for—a more spiritual interpretation of the Bible. For many years I had been a devout member of an orthodox church, searching the Scriptures and trying to follow the teachings of our Master; but not until after I began to study Science and Health did I understand how the healing work could be done. Although I had faith to believe that it should be done through prayer, and many times prayed for the sick and they were helped and comforted, I had no basis to work on except my faith in God and that He does hear and answer prayer. Now I understand the divine Principle of healing, and am very grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has shown us the way.
Through the study of Science and Health in connection with the Bible and the Quarterly, I have received a much clearer understanding of the Scriptures and a greater spiritual uplift. I have learned the allness of God, good, and man's relation to Him. Christian Science is a beautiful religion, which helps me every day to work out my problems; it is a demonstrable religion that gives me joy, peace, and complete satisfaction, for which words are inadequate to express my thankfulness to God. I am indeed grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the rediscovery of this new-old truth which is blessing the whole world. I have been healed of many discordant conditions, among them chronic sick headaches from which I had suffered nearly all my life, colds, throat trouble, rheumatism, injured ankle, and biliousness. The healings have been permanent and my health is perfect.
My greatest joy is to be able to help others, and my highest ambition is to live so that I shall be worthy to be called a Christian Scientist.
