Christian Science came to me seven years ago, about a month before I suffered a great bereavement, so that I received "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" first as a comforter—and a wonderful comforter it proved to be, beyond my power to express in words. Before reading this book, we and our four children were more or less constantly in need of medical treatment; but after studying this book a few months I was surprised to find that both the doctor and the drugs were no longer required. Then, too, I discovered that instead of feeling oppressed by the heat, as in former years, I was able to attend to my business—that of building construction—in the open air under a hot sun without the slightest suffering. Just four years previously I had been prostrated by the heat three times, and on the third occasion was warned to keep out of the sunlight in hot weather; otherwise the doctor would not answer for the consequences. I was also healed of an annual attack of influenza which confined me to bed for at least two weeks. Bronchial colds, coughing, and tiredness were likewise overcome, as well as the liquor and tobacco habits. Before Christian Science came to me I had tried by will power to overcome profanity and bad temper, but without success. One month after I began to read the textbook, profanity disappeared like darkness before the light, and the bad temper has gradually become less and less.
I have been blessed by many wonderful proofs of the allness of good and the nothingness of evil as revealed in Christian Science, both for myself and my children, and on behalf of friends who have sought the Christ-cure. I study the Christian Science Bible Lessons, and am a constant reader of Mrs. Eddy's writings and of the literature issued by the Publishing Society. To this I attribute all my success, my health, and my happiness. My heart is full of love and gratitude to our revered Leader for revealing the truth to this age, and for the courage shown in uncovering hidden evil by our wonderful daily newspaper The Christian Science Monitor.—Henry Japp, Westmount, P. Q., Canada.
