Fort Scott (Kan.) Tribune

Our clerical critic takes exception to what Christian Science teaches about the personality of God. The Scriptures declare that God is Spirit and that he is everywhere and is all-powerful. Surely this teaching cannot be understood as meaning a limited, finite, circumscribed, bodily personal God. Such a teaching or belief about God Christian Science disavows by setting forth a demonstrable understanding of infinite Being. Christian Science teaches the infinite personality of God, expanding into immensity without boundary or delineation. This infinite, omnipresent God is unlimited in wisdom and power; it was He who created all things, and pronounced them to be very good. It was this infinite, divine Principle, or God, that created man in His own image, and gave him dominion.

The apostle James declared, "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." Such a prayer is one of spiritual understanding; it is that earnest, sincere desire that admits no element of blind faith or belief. This is the prayer of Christian Science, which is daily bringing unnumbered blessings to mankind by the way of better health, more comfort and joy, purer-mindedness, and love for one's neighbor as for oneself.
