About six years ago I was taken ill and several doctors...
About six years ago I was taken ill and several doctors said there was little chance for recovery, as my years were against me. I had heard of Christian Science, in fact a copy of Science and Health had been loaned to me several years before, but I did not get interested in it. While I was ill, however, a lady came to the house and told about a friend who was being treated by a Christian Scientist. I said I would like to have a talk with this friend, so the lady brought her to see me, and that same day we called on a practitioner. I had six treatments, kept on reading and going to church, and then all at once found I was healed.
All my life I have been afflicted with throat trouble whenever I caught a little cold. Doctors called it bronchitis. In 1916 I was taken with an unusually severe attack and became feverish and weak. A Christian Science practitioner gave me a treatment and relief was experienced at once. I kept getting better right along and have never had the least touch of the malady since. One day I started to the basement without turning on the light, and had a bad fall, injuring my right foot. There was considerable pain for a time, but by holding to the truth and with the help of a practitioner I was laid up only one day. Although two of the toes had been broken, I was on my foot as usual the next day.
Christian Science has been a great help to me in many ways. It has taught me to be more patient and considerate and to look at things in a different light, and for all these things I feel deep gratitude. I am thankful to God for His unbounded love to His children, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her untiring devotion to humanity.
