I have received so much help from the Christian Science testimonies that I take pleasure in telling of some benefits I have received through this truth. Mrs. Eddy's words in the Preface to Science and Health (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," have been proved true times innumerable in our home.

While residing in Mexico I contracted what is known as black smallpox in its most loathsome form. I was then nine years old and had known nothing in the line of religion or healing but Christian Science. The truth was declared for me as soon as the disease was manifested, with the result that I was brought out of all inharmony, and no manifestation of marking was left, except an almost imperceptible roughness on one hand. Though my mother was continually exposed to the disease, much to the astonishment of friends who were watching the case and were not Christian Scientists, neither she nor anyone else in the building suffered from contagion.

A short time afterward, while in the quarantine station in Cuba, it was pointed out to my mother by acquaintances that I was drawn down on one side and limped very plainly; and although they knew we were Christian Scientists, they expressed the opinion that if massage or electrical treatment were not submitted to, I would be paralyzed on that side. Instantly the thought was realized that God's child is perfect and incapable of being deformed. A few days later we met these same people in the city, and seeing me straight and free, they could only look their wonderment, knowing that something more powerful than material means had made me whole.
