When I first went to a Christian Science practitioner for...

When I first went to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, I had never recovered from an attack of tonsillitis which occurred two years previously, and scarcely knew what it meant to be without a sore throat. When I began to study Christian Science this condition was instantaneously overcome and there has been no return of it. Before this I was not very strong, but since learning that "they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength" I have experienced better health than I ever knew and am able to accomplish more than I thought possible. At that time my finances also were at their lowest, but through the understanding that there can be no lack in Truth and that we must be rich in good works, every need has been abundantly supplied.

It often seems hardest to tell the things which are nearest the heart, and I can only say that where formerly there was a great fear of the future because of discordant conditions for which there seemed no help, through Christian Science these conditions have become so much improved that my sense of peace is best expressed in the words of the hymn on page 223 of our Hymnal, "I know no fear, with Thee at hand to bless."

Christian Science is also teaching me to overcome pride, envy, jealousy, impatience, and to keep my thoughts loving, patient, and meek. I think no one has more cause for joy than I have. During the past three years this healing truth has met not only one, but every daily need. At first the way often seemed dark, but since I stopped human planning and learned to "let patience have her perfect work" there has been steady improvement. Each day, as I rejoice over the errors which have been overcome, I try to remember these words: "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
