Christian Science teaches and proves that man's every need is met by honest effort in the direction of usefulness. It unequivocally accepts the teachings of Christ Jesus on this subject: "And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Mrs. Eddy writes in her textbook on Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 530): "In divine Science, man is sustained by God, the divine Principle of being. The earth, at God's command, brings forth food for man's use. Knowing this, Jesus once said, 'Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink,'—presuming not on the prerogative of his creator, but recognizing God, the Father and Mother of all, as able to feed and clothe man as He doth the lilies."

Christian Scientists have ample proof that the above teaching is every whit true to-day, and in the degree that mankind cease to strive for material things and truly seek an understanding of the omnipresence of God's goodness—the kingdom of heaven at hand—every need will be met without taking any thought at all as to the source of supply. To supply man's every need is God's business, and He need not be reminded of His duty in this respect. To live in accord with true Christian teachings is man's business, and he will not suffer any lack as a result of obedience. "I have been young, and now am old," said the psalmist, "yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
