Extracts from Letters

"I want to tell about the Christian Science services we are having here in camp. Some of the boys in this regiment and the rest of the artillery brigade had been getting together and holding services every Sunday since we came over here on the boat. Thy Y. M. C. A. secretary found a fine little room for us in the building and put up a poster that we would have a service; also had the two other 'Y's' advertise the same. We had a very nice little meeting that Sunday. Had the usual form of service, only had a short testimonial meeting where the collection would come.

"We get together only once a week and give the boys a chance to express their gratitude. We had no hymns the first time, but divine Love has met our needs and we have found some one to play the piano and are now singing our hymns, which surely are a very important part of the service. Have been having the service for about a month and have new faces and more of them present every service. One of the boys in a battery of this regiment is acting as First Reader and I as Second Reader. We are so grateful for these services and know those at home would be interested."

"I beg to acknowledge with grateful thanks safe receipt of your letter, together with vest pocket edition of Science and Health, Quarterly, and Hymnal, all of which I am glad to have. In these stirring and trying times it is an inspiration and source of comfort to know of the ever increasing activity of the Christian Science movement."
