Although I have already given my testimony in public,...
Although I have already given my testimony in public, for the sake of others I feel it a duty to write this for the Christian Science Sentinel. About one year and a half ago I cut my left thumb with a fish bone. I did not think any more about it, but about a week later my thumb started to pain and swell. Then I went to a practitioner. My sister, who is a good Scientist, came and remained all night with me. Before we retired she read from Science and Health to me, and together we repeated the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation, as given on page 16, and I slept until morning. As day broke the pain was intense, so I again went down town to a practitioner. By that time it apparently was a bad case of blood poisoning. It had spread to my shoulder and there was a swelling on my breast. That was my last visit to the practitioner; the rest was absent treatment; but after my last visit I suffered no more pain. To finish, I will say that a swelling came over my hand, which opened of itself, and the discharge seemed terrible, but not once did I feel any fear, knowing God takes care of His children. This to me is a wonderful demonstration; for I feel sure that only for Christian Science I might have lost my arm and maybe would have passed on.
I write with a grateful heart and can say that I am unable to find words to express my gratitude for this and other wonderful healings that have come to me; but the spiritual understanding is of far greater value. Only for that I should not be on earth to-day. I thank God and our beloved Leader, also my dear sister and kind practitioner who so lovingly helped me.
