The Lectures

Osage, Iowa (Society).—Virgil O. Strickler, lecturer; introduced by Prof. George Sawyer, superintendent of city schools, who said in part:—

There is unrest in both the social and the religious world to-day. I have long since come to the conclusion that no one church possesses a monopoly of all the truth revealed by God in His holy Word; therefore, we ought not to wrap too closely about us our cloak of righteousness and dismiss with scorn or contempt the ideas of our friend and brother. The Christian Science church has passed through years of ridicule, but with all has manifested a Christian spirit and has emerged to become a powerful factor in the religious life of the world. I personally am not numbered with the membership of this church. I have, however, in my heart a profound respect for much of its fundamental teaching, and am pleased to receive further light. Furthermore, I know intimately many who are ardent in this faith. Their lives are active recommendations.
