It is a great joy and privilege to express my gratitude for Christian Science. It matters not what the need may be—whether it is a physical, financial, or mental condition which needs to be corrected—my remedy is always at hand. It is the same remedy used by Jesus and recommended to his followers so many years ago, and restored to mankind in this age by the loving, patient work of our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy. It is the truth as taught and demonstrated in Christian Science.

I have been fortunate in having Christian Science in my home from early childhood. As a child I used the little understanding I had of this truth and it was sufficient for my needs, but a time came during my school days when I was indifferent to this teaching. I had been inclined to be melancholy and much disturbed by the sorrow and suffering around me, and when I became indifferent to Science this tendency grew upon me. As a result of this mental condition and of overstudy in school, my health became very poor. I was a great sufferer from a nervous trouble, from a bowel disorder which material remedies were unable to relieve, as well as from many minor ills. I suffered from these things for several years, in the meantime trying physicians to satisfy my husband and other members of the family who were not Christian Scientists. No help was received from medical treatment; so, realizing that nothing but Christian Science could heal me, I began the study of Mrs. Eddy's book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I asked for treatment and began to improve from the first, but was not entirely healed until I proved my willingness to study and apply the little I knew of the truth. The healing was complete and has been permanent. Instead of being disturbed by the sin and sorrow in the world, I rejoice that in Christian Science we have a remedy for these seeming conditions. In place of suffering I have found health and peace. I count among my greatest blessings the experience of becoming a mother without suffering. With the loving help of a practitioner I was able to understand as never before the fatherhood and motherhood of God. This experience was a splendid proof of the protecting care of infinite Love, and occasion for great rejoicing.

My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, for restoring to mankind the healing and saving truth, is unbounded. Words fail to express my thankfulness to God for the "inspired Word of the Bible" (Science and Health, p. 497), and for the blessings that have come to me through the study of the Scriptures in connection with our textbook. I wish to express my gratitude for the wonderful privilege of class instruction and for membership in both The Mother Church and a branch church.—(Mrs.) Viola M. Cottrell, Sacramento, Cal.
