The testimonies of healing published in the Christian Science...
The testimonies of healing published in the Christian Science periodicals are so helpful to me that I am sending my own expression of gratitude in the hope that it may encourage some one. As far back as I can remember I was guarded very carefully on account of supposedly inherited weak eyes. After entering school it was often a great annoyance not to be allowed to study by lamplight, but instead to have to rise early in the morning to get the benefit of the daylight. When in high school I overdid, with the result that my eyes gave out. A noted Chicago oculist pronounced the trouble a structural defect of the eyes for which glasses should have been worn from earlist childhood, and said that they must be used the rest of my life.
Three and a half years later I began attending the Christian Science church. I had always disliked wearing glasses, and a glimpse into Christian Science made me feel I should be able to do without them; but as my closing work in high school was heavy, I decided to use them until vacation time. Accidents kept befalling them, however, and each time they were mended the thought became stronger that they should be dispensed with.
Vacation found me in a small town in the mountains where there were no Scientists, and soon the glasses met with another accident. I wrote to a friend for treatment, and fearful lest I should be tempted to resume wearing the glasses, I broke them into bits. I read almost constantly, and for a few days the old headaches returned, but in about a week I was healed. This healing occurred over fifteen years ago and I have needed no glasses since, although my eyes have been used freely.
