It was in the year 1908 that I came into Christian Science. I had been under the doctor's care for a long time, and was suffering from a nervous shock which affected my back so that I was prostrated for days at a time. As a result of Christian Science treatment I was lifted from this condition into the peaceful atmosphere of the understanding of Christian Science, and physical health was pretty well established with the first treatments.
My experience in the past had led me to doubt that anything so satisfying as this could be permanent, but it proved to be so. If now and then error appears to obstruct my path, I go forward courageously and conquer it, well knowing that it has no power over me and cannot frighten me, for ever present Love is my help. Acute throat trouble and a very severe case of quinsy have been healed in our home. While passing through a great trial in the loss of my husband three years ago, I was helped in knowing that God is Love. It was not a new thought and it had always been a comfort to me, but in the light of Christian Science it seemed particularly full of meaning, and with this thought of Love I soon became quite calm.
I have had the privilege of class study and feel that it has been a great benefit to me. The way grows clearer every day as the Christ-life is revealed to me, and I am beginning to experience a deeper sense of thankfulness to God and of gratitude to all those who have helped me on this journey from sense to Soul. I realize that I can best express this gratitude by striving earnestly and constantly to live the life of a true Christian Scientist.
