When about to board a car on a busy thoroughfare, I was run over by a heavy touring car, which passed directly over the middle of my body. I was taken into a near-by establishment and my head, which was cut and bleeding, was bound up. I was perfectly calm, and requested that I be taken to my home in East Cleveland, eight miles away. I also gave our telephone number, so that my daughter and her husband might be informed that I needed help.

The message was received by my son-in-law just as they were about to start for evening service, and he answered that everything would be taken care of. Christian Science treatment was given me at once. I was taken home in the automobile which had run over me, but even before the long, slow ride was over I knew I was having help. I had been scarcely able to breathe and the pain was extreme, but I began to breathe more easily. When I reached home the practitioner was informed that the pain was severe, and in half an hour it had all disappeared. My injuries were considered very serious, but my recovery was rapid and wonderful, so that in twelve days I was back at my office.

The morning after the accident, among the many telephone calls was one from a business man, an entire stranger to me, who said to my daughter: "I saw the whole thing. I stood within a few feet of her when the accident occurred, and it was nothing short of a miracle that she escaped with her life, and she was the coolest one in the crowd." Had he known that a few years previous I was healed of what had been called an incurable heart trouble, he would have been surprised that I did not even lose consciousness.
