Nine years ago my wife and I were asked to read and study Science and Health, that we might help the work of a practitioner who had been asked to treat one of our relatives. Since all things else had failed, we gladly entered into it, with no other motive than to help this brother, and without realizing the great change which was taking place in our own consciousness until after about a year of earnest study and regular attendance at church services.

I had been considered frail from birth, and as I grew to manhood was sick a great deal; but after beginning the study of Christian Science I soon discovered that chronic headaches and bowel trouble had disappeared. One day in helping to lower a heavy case my little finger was almost torn off at the first joint. Every one in the warehouse wanted to send for a doctor, but I went directly to a Christian Science practitioner, who gave me treatment, and then home. My wife dressed the finger, and in two hours I was back at work. There was never any pain or swelling, and in a month the finger was perfectly healed.

Several years after this, while traveling, my lungs became so sore that it was difficult for me to breathe; but I managed to reach home, and then telephoned to a practitioner for help. Within a few days I was free from the pain, but what is known as lung trouble had developed. I worked every day, but members of my family who were not Scientists were so worried they begged me to go West. I however knew that God was my only salvation from sickness and all sin, so continued to have Christian Science treatment. Although my business associates gave me just six months to live, in three months I was entirely healed without having missed a day from my work.
