It gives me great joy to write this testimony of my gratitude
It gives me great joy to write this testimony of my gratitude. In February, 1915, I was taken with great pain in the abdomen, and swelling set in accompanied by high fever. I was in and out of bed for days, was scarcely able to walk, and at last got so bad that my husband insisted on my seeing a doctor. The physician said I had two abnormal growths, with an abscess forming; also that a rupture left from an operation several years before was pressing on the bowels, and that an immediate operation was necessary. I asked him for something to relieve the pain, as I was in such misery, but he said medicine would do no good.
I went home to talk the matter over with my husband, and we both dreaded the operation. Then suddenly the thought came to me to try Christian Science, in which I had been interested years before but which had not been thought of for some time. About two blocks up the street was a reading-room, and very painfully I dragged myself there that night about half past seven. I told the attendant of my condition and what the doctor had said, and her reply was, "God, divine Truth, can dissolve tumors, and He will heal you." She loaned me a copy of Science and Health, also a Journal from which I could choose a practitioner. It was nine o'clock when I reached home, but I read until one o'clock, then went to bed and had the first good night's sleep in a week and a half. The next day I went to see a practitioner, and after several treatments began to get better. By the tenth of March, when I left Chicago to go to the country, the healing was complete.
I am thankful to God for Christian Science, and grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Many blessings have been received since my first healing, and I am striving to have my daily life express my gratitude. My health has never been better.—Agnes Schram, Coloma, Mich.
