Having long remained silent, I feel compelled to testify to...

Having long remained silent, I feel compelled to testify to the blessings which I have received through Christian Science. In 1910 I was taken ill with rheumatism, and after seven weeks' treatment at the hospital was dismissed with a stiff elbow joint. I was unable to work and constantly suffered great pain. After two years of unsuccessful treatment with steam and mechanical motion, an operation was suggested as the proper means of obviating the trouble. The operation brought no improvement, however, but instead there was atrophy of the muscles in the hand, which became entirely numb and void of sensation. Massage was resorted to, as well as electrical treatment, but it was all of no avail. Finally, after having become a cripple, I was told that I must accept the situation.

Through a lady with whom I was acquainted my attention was then called to Christian Science, and as one who is drowning will catch at anything, so did I grasp this teaching. I applied to a practitioner, who gave me treatment, and the feeling returned to my arm within a short time. I began to work with that hand as formerly, and how grateful and happy I was for this result, and for having found Christian Science, which has brought me so much good! In March, 1916, I was taken severely ill with catarrh of the lungs, as stated by the physician whom I had to call in. I made no use of the medical prescriptions, but notified a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly took up treatment. Within a short time I was able to leave my bed, and am feeling quite well. I am thankful for the benefits which our heavenly Father has bestowed upon us, and gratefully remember our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has done so much for mankind.—Frau Anna Hoffmann, Berlin, Germany.
