In 1911 I was suffering from what was pronounced a condition of tuberculosis. For six months I had been following carefully the best medical advice without any improvement. I was a graduate nurse and had had a number of months' work with two of the most famed surgeons in the country, so that when I procured the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, from the public library, it was with no thought of healing but merely with a desire to know the basis of Christian Science work. I am indeed thankful to God for that leading. In a few weeks, through the better understanding of God which the reading of the textbook had given me, I was absolutely healed. To satisfy some members of my family who were still fearful for me, I returned to my former physician for another examination. After examining me very carefully he said in some astonishment that I was well and that he could not understand it.
Since that time I have married, and I have two children. The understanding of God as Love, omnipotent, omnipresent, has been a wonderful protection to us. People comment on the fact that we have had none of the so-called children's diseases to combat, and I am daily grateful for being able to realize the protection of right thinking. In my own experience, sorrow and fear and sickness have one by one been overcome, and I am indeed thankful to God for His wonderful goodness to the children of men, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her God-given discernment of this blessed truth.
During the past six years I have experienced better health than ever before, and greater freedom in every way. Christian Science is indeed the most precious of all possessions, and to know the truth as taught by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, is to experience joy and peace such as one has never known before.—Florence J. Faneuf, Williamsport, Pa.
