Among the Churches
Current Notes
Colorado .—That the attitude of the press of Colorado is generally favorable is evidenced by the fact that during the six months previous to November 1, 1917, seven full reports of Christian Science lectures have been printed, together with a number of synopses of various lengths. The Christian Science Monitor has been quoted frequently by many of the Colorado papers, and due credit given. The favorable attitude of the press is without doubt largely due to the leavening influence of the Monitor, and an appreciation of this fact on the part of Christian Scientists will result in according the larger and truer support which this channel for good deserves. During the past half year eleven letters for publication were written by the committee on publication, all of which were accepted and published, one by a medical journal.—Committee on Publication.
Little Rock, Ark.—An addition of distinction to Little Rock's already large number of magnificent church buildings will be the new edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, which will be erected at an early date on the site of the present chapel, Twentieth and Louisiana Streets. It will cost approximately twenty-five thousand dollars and will occupy the site of the present frame chapel. As soon as arrangements are made for the holding of services at another place, the work of tearing down the old building will be started. It is expected that the new edifice will be completed in about ten months, or possibly a year. The present chapel has become too small to accommodate the members of the church, as it has a seating capacity of only two hundred persons. The new structure will have a seating capacity of six hundred. It will be 44 feet in width and 110 feet in length.—Arkansas Democrat.
