In
the twenty-second chapter of Genesis it is recorded that God tempted Abraham and commanded him to take Issac, his only son, and offer him for a burnt offering.
To exemplify in thought, word, and deed the highest sense of perfection attainable to the human understanding, and to strive to bring to fulfillment such promise in the pupils, is the mission of the Christian Science Sunday school teacher.
In
the prophecy of Isaiah we read: "Before they call, I will answer;" and again, "For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.
It
is recorded in the book of Joshua that as the children of Israel journeyed toward the promised land, even long after had passed through the Red Sea and later through the waters of the Jordan, after they had been fed by manna and after they had taken Jericho, even then one enemy after another appeared to block their progress.
While
the writer was reading the gospel narrative of the birth of Jesus these questions presented themselves: Why were the shepherds, diligently guarding their flocks under the silent stars, the only ones who heard the joyous song of the angels?

Speedy action was taken by the Christian Science organization in Boston to provide relief for Halifax people who are in distress on account of the explosion of the munitions ship and the resulting fire.
