Among the Churches

Current Notes

New York, N. Y. — The reading rooms of First Church of Christ, Scientist, were moved on Saturday [Sept. 22] to the fourteenth floor of the Tribune Building, at 154 Nassau Street. The new rooms have a seating capacity treble that of the ones vacated. The down town location, it is believed, will give a greater number of persons engaged in business, as well as residents of New Jersey, an opportunity for study and meditation. — New York Tribune.

Watts, Cal. — Plans have been completed for a new church building to be erected for the Christian Science Society. The building will have seating accommodations for one hundred and fifty. It will cover a ground area 38 by 63 feet. — Los Angeles Examiner.

Fort Worth, Texas. — Since August, 1916, literature has been placed in county convict camps, the workhouse, the Young Men's Christian Association, the telephone exchange, the relief association, the interurban station, department store rest rooms, railroad shops, cafes, theaters, and street cars, as well as given or mailed to individuals and placed in racks in church and Sunday school. Monitors have been sent to editors throughout the state and to girls' canning clubs. The amount of literature distributed by the literature distribution committee is as follows: 3449 Sentinels, 316 Journals, 31 Herolds, 6514 Monitors, and 22 pamphlets, a total of 10,332 pieces. This committee has placed gift subscriptions for the Monitor in two newspaper offices and in the Young Men's Christian Association, and for the Sentinel, Journal, and Monitor in the Carnegie Public Library.
