Until a few years ago I was afflicted with a chronic bowel trouble. My father, who lived until I was seventeen years old and who was an unusually successful physician, could not permanently help the condition; in fact he told me, as have several physicians since, that it was something which drugs cannot cure. For nearly thirty-two years I was a victim to this disorder, which seemed so much a part of my life that I did not worry about it, although I could not possess the general health of those who were normal in this respect.

I took up the study of Christian Science, but not for physical healing; it appealed to me as the truth. I however decided to have treatment, although I did not expect to be healed, not having grasped the Principle of the healing power and being quite satisfied with Science as a religion only. Faith, therefore, was not a factor in my subsequent healing, but I knew drugs could not heal me. When I was completely healed in one week's treatment by a Christian Science practitioner, I was as surprised as I was grateful. It was the beginning of a new physical life for me, as automatically every other organ and function of the body became normal; it was more than this, however,—it was the beginning of a spiritual life. The spiritual healing received through the study of Christian Science is the greatest thing which has ever come into my experience.

To say I am grateful does not express my feelings. I praise God with all my heart for Jesus, the master Physician, and for the dear woman, Mrs. Eddy, who gave us an interpretation of his works whereby we can more nearly follow his commandments.
