I am deeply grateful to be able to testify herewith to the blessings which I have received through Christian Science. In June, 1915, I became afflicted with an eruption on the left arm. It extended down to the hand, and I suffered greatly. As we had known of Christian Science for quite a while and were diligent readers of the Herold, my mother communicated with a Christian Science practitioner in Hannover, and absent treatment was taken up at once. The pain soon subsided, and a few days later I was free from the trouble. When shortly after this my little sister was taken ill with measles, we again notified the practitioner. After absent treatment had been given her for a few days, she was able to get up, the fever having left her.
In February, 1915, I was taken ill. We thought it was a cold, but as my condition grew worse my mother wired to the practitioner, who began treatment the same day. Being reproached by our relatives, however, for not having a physician, my mother asked one to call. He at once pronounced the disease pleurisy; also remarked that a fluid had gathered under the ribs. He said that if this condition did not disappear by the next morning I would have to go to the hospital for an operation. We held to the truth, however, that God is the only power and our only helper. When the physician came the next morning (I had been under Christian Science treatment only two days) the accumulation had disappeared and no operation was necessary, but he said that inflammation of the lungs had developed. This trouble disappeared inside of four days. In about two weeks, during which time I had treatment from the practitioner, I was completely restored to health, for which I am very thankful to God, and grateful to our beloved Leader. I am a young girl and shall strive to conform to these beautiful teachings, with God's help.
