I often wonder if we realize how much our periodicals are helping us. Some time ago I read an article in a Sentinel which came right home to me, as it expressed exactly my own experience. It was to the effect that we sometimes become somewhat overconfident that we never can be sick any more, having received so many proofs of how a perfect reliance on divine Love has helped us to keep well, perhaps for years. Then if some discordant condition suddenly manifests itself which we seemingly are unable to overcome, we are apt to grow discouraged.

After having studied Christian Science for about six years I am grateful to say that I have been healed of deafness in one ear, stomach disorders of various kinds, influenza, to which I seemed to be subject, and other ailments. For five years I was not ill for one whole day, as any symptoms of illness were overcome at the start. Then I was suddenly attacked by a painful form of rheumatism, and although I did not think of anything but turning to God and applying my understanding of divine Principle, I remained helpless until relief was secured through treatment from a practitioner living three hundred miles away.
