The Scriptural passage, "God is light, and in him is no...
The Scriptural passage, "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all," fitly describes my experience in Christian Science, which has led me from the darkness of chance and change to a larger realization of the permanence and brightness of life. In a study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, there has been unfolded not a contradiction of any real "good the past hath had," but an unfoldment and larger fulfilment of early hope. The mist that seemed to becloud the understanding has been dispersed by a study of this book, which has indeed proven a "key" to the Word of Life. Prejudice against this truth, which had seemed so real, disappeared as a clearer understanding of it was gained and results were experienced through spiritual uplift and physical healing.
Many discords were overcome in the early study alone, among them a bad disposition, inflammatory rheumatism, and numerous other troubles attendant upon fear and hate. While I was healed of many minor ills, the greatest joy was found in the spiritual uplift. Every one is hungry for good, although he may not have rightly understood the demand, and like me may have stumbled much in fruitless search. It was because I found an explanation of this instinctive desire and an accurate law by which it might be satisfied, that I followed like a child waking from a long, tiresome dream.
Some time after beginning the study of Christian Science I was healed in one treatment of a malignant growth, after more than a year's effort battling with my own fears. I am thankful to God, the giver of all good, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy as the human channel through whom this truth was expressed. I would gladly encourage every seeker after light and liberty to try an honest investigation of Christian Science.—Robert L. Sawyer, Chicago, Ill.
