That Christian Science rests upon a logical and practical...
That Christian Science rests upon a logical and practical basis was brought to my attention about three years ago, when for the first time I learned of the two conflicting accounts of the creation in the first and second chapters of Genesis,—one of the spiritual man in the image and likeness of God, and the other of his counterfeit, made of the dust of the ground. I had heard of Christian Science for a number of years before this, but while believing in its healing power I understood nothing of its doctrine.
After getting a slight understanding of the subject I decided to test its efficacy, as I had been a sufferer for ten years from a serious organic trouble for which several of the best physicians in Washington and elsewhere had treated me without permanent benefit, and also had been subject to frequent and severe colds, influenza, and other ailments. Treatment was begun, and immediate improvement, both mental and physical, was experienced. Several months passed before my complete recovery from the organic trouble was accomplished. While at times I felt discouraged, the slow progress had compensation in the helpful instruction received from the practitioner, for which I feel much gratitude. Recently a severe attack of influenza was almost instantaneously overcome, and today my health is perfect.
My mother, who is over seventy years of age, has lately been healed of Bright's disease, from which she had suffered for several years, and is in consequence of this experience an enthusiastic student of Science and Health. Not the least of the benefits received through Christian Science has been the destruction of discord and inharmony in my home and the substitution therefor of more love and peace. I am deeply grateful for what this teaching is doing for me and for the whole world.—Hester Drayton, Washington, D. C.
