I wish to give thanks for the many blessings which I have...

I wish to give thanks for the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science, with the hope that my words may be the means of helping others. Early in January, 1916, I woke up one morning with such paroxysms of pain in the chest and back that I experienced great difficulty in breathing. My first thought was to lie down again and have some one treat me in Christian Science, as a sense of great fear had come over me, owing to the fact that I had lost my father and three very near relatives, they having succumbed to lung and heart trouble. I however took the Journal and read a paragraph from an article in it, and was instantly freed of the severe sense of pain, the proof thereby being afforded that mortal mind law is absolutely devoid of power.

Our little son one day got hold of crushed black pepper. When I went to find out the cause of his loud cries, I found his face crimson and his eyes swollen. I washed his hands and face and at once declared the truth. After a few minutes he was asleep, and when he awoke there was no trace of the trouble left except a small spot on one cheek. On another occasion upon my closing the ice-chest he began to cry dreadfully, and I found that one of his fingers had been jammed. It was entirely flattened. While I treated him he fell asleep, and later on, while playing, he pressed the finger, which except for a red mark appeared to be quite normal, and said, "Mama, it's all gone!" The red stripe disappeared after two days. For these healings, as well as for many other blessings which I have derived through the study of the wonderful subject of Christian Science, I am most deeply grateful to God, and thankful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
