Christian Science found me a number of years ago in a...
Christian Science found me a number of years ago in a state of discouragement at a time when my outlook on life seemed dark and hopeless. I had turned from a religion which I had cherished, but which had failed to satisfy my longing for something better, to worldly pleasures, but these afforded no real joy or happiness. Failure seemed to beset me on every side and I knew not where to turn.
While I was in this condition a copy of Science and Health was placed in my hands. I little realized at the time that it contained a message of hope,—the Christ, Truth,—but as I pondered its pages life began to assume a nobler and brighter outlook. As I studied it, together with the Scriptures, a different concept of God was gained. I had at last found a God whom I could love and adore, because He had been revealed to me as a God of love, omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. I began also to learn something about man as God's image; and as this realization unfolded in my consciousness, bad habits and false appetites left me as shadows flee before the light, and they have never returned. Soon I began to enjoy more freedom and better health, and then I experienced that true happiness, the peace which passeth all human understanding.
Christian Science has brought many blessings into my life, and I am not unmindful of the debt of gratitude due its Discoverer and Founder for having revealed the Christ, Truth, to this age. Through the application of its Principle and rule I have been healed many times, not only of physical ailments and suffering, but of lack, despondency, and sorrow. It has enabled me to overcome anxiety, worry, and fear. It has made me more unselfish, more tender and patient, more forbearing and charitable; it has given me better health and morals, more endurance, greater mental alertness and perception, better judgment, and a higher sense of justice and integrity. In fact, it has brought me not only greater freedom but also an enlarged capacity to do and accomplish whatever is right.
