Among the Churches
Current Notes
Michigan .—At no time in the history of the Christian Science movement in Michigan has interest in this subject been more apparent. Evidences on all sides point to a generally friendly feeling toward the movement, and the gradual growth in all branches of the Christian Science work and in membership of churches and societies of the state is gratifying and reassuring. Wherever there is a branch church or society having a card in The Christian Science Journal, the work of the committee on publication is aided by an assistant committee on publication appointed by the local church or society. At other places where there are Christian Scientists this committee is aided by a correspondent whom he selects. At the present time there are sixty assistants and eighty-four correspondents in the state, totaling one hundred and fortyfour as compared with one hundred and thirty-one reported a year ago.
During the past twelve months 542 books and subscriptions to the Christian Science periodicals have been placed in libraries throughout the state. Outside of the distribution of Christian Science literature carried on by the various churches and societies, the publication committee has distributed 34,859 pieces.—Committee on Publication.
Syracuse, N. Y.—A meeting of the congregation of First Church of Christ, Scientist, will be held Friday evening [April 21] in the church auditorium, 704 East Fayette Street, to consider the question of erecting an edifice on the three lots owned by the church on East Jefferson Street and Forman Avenue. The present quarters are too small to house the congregation and two meetings have been necessary Wednesday evenings, as well as a double service Sundays. The present auditorium seats three hundred and fifty and is owned by the Christian Scientists.—Syracuse Post-Standard.
