When Christian Science came into my life five years ago, it found me a physical wreck and unhappy. I had tried many physicians and material remedies, but was at last told I must undergo an operation, and if I lived through it I might be better. Again and again I had been told that it was only a question of time until I would have a paralytic stroke. There was a complication of kidney and liver trouble which grew worse continually, and no encouragement was given me that it would ever be overcome. Those were dark and hopeless days. I had been a church-member for twelve years, and had prayed that God would hear and answer my prayers; but at last I only looked for something to ease my suffering until, as I thought, death would set me free.
I did not want to be healed through Christian Science, but "man's extremity is God's opportunity." From the first treatment I was greatly benefited, and that night I slept peacefully, something I had not done in a long time. Before this I could not sit up all day and did practically no work. Now I am perfectly healed of all these ailments and many more, so that I am able to do all the housework and help my husband in the store. I was also healed of acute lung trouble in less than twenty-four hours.
We have proved that God is an ever-present help in times of sorrow as well as in sickness. The physical healings have been wonderful, but the spiritual uplift that has come to me through the study of Christian Science is indeed more wonderful. For all this I am grateful to God, also to Mrs. Eddy.
