I had known of Christian Science for a number of years and owned a copy of Science and Health, but did not think seriously of Science until confronted by the necessity for an operation. About eight years ago I was suddenly taken very ill, and the physician who was called in pronounced the trouble appendicitis. My fear of the operating table was so great that in my extremity I turned to God for help.

A Christian Science practitioner was called over the telephone and asked to take the case. She consented, and said she would give me an absent treatment immediately and see me the next day. That was about eight o'clock in the evening, and in an hour's time I was quietly sleeping, all pain and discomfort having subsided. I was healed in a comparatively short time, and I speak advisedly when I say healed, for in eight years there has never been the slightest return of the trouble. Many other ailments have assailed me, but one and all have been met by Science, which I have indeed found to be "the Comforter which leadeth into all truth" (Science and Health, p. 127).

My heart overflows with gratitude to God for giving us this revelation of Truth through our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and I am truly thankful that through the study of Christian Science I have been able to gain a clear and demonstrable understanding of the spiritual import of the word of God and its healing power.
