These last six years Christian Science has been very...
These last six years Christian Science has been very precious to us. Over two years ago I went up a ladder to fix some electric lights in the ceiling of a high room. The ladder slipped and I came down with it on a hard floor, sustaining very severe injuries. I was unconscious, so the firm for which I worked sent me home, and also sent two doctors to attend me. When they saw me they wanted to take me to the hospital, but my wife said if they had anything to do, to do it there. They looked at me and talked to each other; then they said they could not do anything until morning. The firm called up another doctor, and this one said he could do nothing except plaster my arm to my side to stop me from moving it, as he could not set it until the swelling in my chest went down.
My wife sent word to a Christian Science practitioner almost as soon as I reached home. Treatment was given at once, and I commenced to get better. An eye which was out of the socket went back into place; the collar-bone set and knitted, and the swelling went down. When the doctor came to set the arm, the trouble had been overcome. He could not understand this, so he worked the arm back and forth, but found it all right. In four days I regained consciousness and raised myself in bed with the seemingly wounded arm. In four weeks I was back at work, to the surprise of many.
I thank God for the many blessings I have received, and I am striving to live right each day. I am very grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for making plain the teachings of Christ Jesus.—Joseph Bentley, Spokane, Wash.
