The Church News
The editor says, "Many people of today are embracing Christian Science under the pretext that it is a superior form of the Christian religion—that it is the highest and best form of that religion to be found in the world today," and I agree with that statement of the editor, for it is now very generally conceded that Christian Science is indeed the very "best form of religion to be found in the world today."
Saying that Christian Science is neither Christian nor Science does not make the statement true. The mere statement means nothing when it is opposed by the record of wonderful accomplishments that are to the credit of Christian Science. The claim that Christian Science is neither Christian nor Science is not original with the editor. It has been made many times before by others and is now well-nigh threadbare from overuse. Overwhelming proof that Christian Science is both Christian and Science is pouring in daily from the civilized world. Men, women, and children who have been delivered from the depths through the ministry of Christian Science are freely testifying of its unfailing efficacy in meeting "every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).
Christ Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Knowing God and knowing Truth is one and the same thing. The applicability of the Master's promise to present-day necessities is evidenced in the experience of thousands of persons who before taking up the study of Christian Science had suffered from constant disappointment because, not having an exact knowledge of God, they had been hitherto entertaining a mere blind belief about Him, a belief that was void of any satisfactory accompaniment. Now that they have touched the hem of the garment of Christ they are enjoying the fruits of the Spirit. That Christian Science is Christian is proved by the good it accomplishes. By it the sick are healed; by it the sorrowing are comforted ; by it the sinner is reformed ; and to them who are "dead in trespasses and sins," the gospel is preached with "signs following."
