Since we have been acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science I have had opportunity to appreciate the benefits accruing from their study and to experience the power which comes with the realization of the truth. Last year, while on a journey, our little boy during the night began to cough, and to breathe with so much difficulty that a great effort was required on my part to banish all fear, as I was apprehensive that it might be a serious trouble. Having regained my calm, I was able with the help of my husband to realize that the trouble was no part of reality and therefore had no power over God's child, and opening Science and Health I read and reread the "scientific statement of being" (p. 468). The child went to sleep, and great was my gratitude to God when about six o'clock in the morning he took some milk without difficulty. When we arrived in Geneva at nine o'clock, the child did not show the slightest trace of a bad night.

For a good many years I was subject to attacks of rheumatism and used many drugs. When recently the ailment returned, and as a result of a rather severe attack two fingers of the right hand became paralyzed, the pain completely disappeared within two days through the affirmation of the power of Truth.

A splendid demonstration, for which I am most grateful, is one experienced a month ago at the birth of a little girl. During the whole period of gestation I felt well, thanks to the understanding of the Principle of Christian Science which I was able to apply daily. One morning at half past six, as I felt somewhat distressed, we telephoned to the Christian Science practitioner, asking her to lend me her assistance, and at quarter past seven, that is three quarters of an hour later, the baby had arrived and I was as well as if nothing had occurred, and happy to have had once more the proof that God is an ever present help in moments of difficulty. The midwife who attended me declared that during her long professional activity she had never witnessed so harmonious a case, and while she is not a Christian Scientist and has no understanding of it, she can but pay tribute to so convincing a proof.
