[Written for the Sentinel]

Seekers of the Light

THROUGH light and shadow,
Tears and pain,
Helping each other the heights to gain,
Onward forever,
Working together,
Are those who are striving to follow the gleam.

Always preceding,
Still upward leading,
Sometimes dimly we see the gleam.
When faith burns lower
Our march seems slower,
But courage, dear heart, and follow the gleam.

The path winds upward,
And steep seems the way
Out of self to the light of day;
But our pilgrim band
United will stand,
With gladness and courage to follow the gleam.

Divine Love is strong,
Though the way seems long;
And when at last comes the even-song,
Still through the twilight,
Truth keeps our torch bright,
And guides us till full light replaces the gleam.
