I first became acquainted with Christian Science in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, six years ago ; and I have been studying it progressively ever since. My object in writing a testimony is to give expression to the gratitude I feel for the help that has come to my family and to myself through this teaching.

One evening in January, 1914, our second son, aged six, became very ill and was put to bed. He was delirious, but his mother noticed that from time to time he would break off from the delirium to repeat the prayers he had learned at the Christian Science Sunday school. The next morning he was quite well and was running about with the other children. My wife had told me that she supposed the boy was coming down with a so-called acute infectious disease, since he had the symptoms, but as he was well next morning she thought she had been mistaken. Three weeks later we noticed that he was talking in a very peculiar manner, and I decided to ask for a treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. As I was informed on the following day that the child was suffering from the after effects of the disease referred to, it was necessary, in order to conform to the health regulations of the district, to call in a medical officer. The doctor examined my son and stated that he certainly had had diphtheria and was now suffering from paralysis of the soft palate, and he was surprised that the heart had not been affected. He ordered my family into isolation until a bacteriological examination was made and the Government analyst certified a negative result from his investigation, when the quarantine was removed.

The Christian Science practitioner went on with the treatment, and in three or four weeks the boy was talking normally again. This was over two and a half years ago, and the child has been perfectly healthy ever since. I wish to draw attention to the fact that from what he learned at Sunday school he was able to go himself straight to the divine Principle of all healing.
