It is with a heart filled with gratitude and an earnest wish that my experience may help some one in a like condition, that I send this testimony of healing through Christian Science. From childhood I had never been well, and every spring and fall brought a siege of illness confining me to bed for several weeks.
About four years ago I was taken very ill and my people got the best medical aid which their means permitted. All the doctors pronounced the trouble tubercular disease and said they could do nothing for me ; that if I were taken to New Mexico, providing I stood the trip there, my life might be prolonged six months. I had several severe hemorrhages, and one night after the worst hemorrhage of all, when so weak I could hardly raise myself in bed, my husband's mother asked me to try Christian Science. I knew nothing of this teaching and neither did my people, but she told me several things about it and at last I decided to try it, thinking it at least could make me no worse than I was then. Treatment was begun, and at the end of a week I was up and had no return of the hemorrhages ; at the end of the second week all traces of the disease were gone and it has never returned.
Since then I have been helped through several illnesses, and lately have been able to lift myself, through my small understanding, out of severe attacks of fear, lack, and discouragement. For three years after my healing I studied little, but the kind and encouraging talk of a friend who is an earnest worker in Christian Science, when I so sorely needed her comforting words, firmly convinced me that I needed Christian Science more than all else. I am now earnestly striving to know God's allness, and in our present seeming want and lack to know that ample supply was meant for me, and that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).
