The Lectures

The Rev. E. B. Saunders, pastor of the Universalist Church, in presenting Prof. Hermann S. Hering at the lecture on Christian Science held in the Municipal Building, said:—

The occasion which calls us together is altogether a delightful one. We have come here with inquiring minds to learn more of that doctrine, if you choose to call it a doctrine, of which we have already heard much and of which none of us can boast a full understanding. There was a time, perhaps, when Christian Science awakened fierce antagonism on the part of many, but that time is very happily past. Christian Science has made its place and has gained its reputation by its followers, and now people of every denomination and every school are earnestly engaged in learning as much as they can of what Christian Science is really teaching, and all are in full sympathy with its warfare against sin, sickness, and death.—Correspondence.
