To say I am thankful for the blessings which Christian Science has brought to me in the past two years, both spiritually and physically, only partly expresses my feelings. I realize, however, that I have only begun to understand and apply it, though I have proven many times that, as we read on page 152 of Science and Health, "Truth has a healing effect, even when not fully understood."

A short time after I came into Christian Science, my little girl, then four years old, developed symptoms of croup in the night. At first fear completely overpowered me, as on a previous occasion she had been very ill from the same ailment. I had just begun to read Science and Health, but I had learned the Lord's Prayer and its spiritual interpretation as found on page 16, so I repeated it, and in less than ten minutes the child was sleeping quietly, and she was up and playing next day.

On another occasion this same little girl had been in company with my young sister, who had contracted measles at school, but through the application of what we knew of the truth my little girl was prevented from catching the disease, as were also three children of another sister. The sister who was ill was in bed only a day and a night; after that the fever was completely gone, and she ate with the others. Meanwhile another member of the family who lived near us, but who was not at all interested in Christian Science, had four children exposed, and to material sense all of them were sick for a week or more, confined in a dark room and unable to eat.
