It is nearly three years since I became interested in Christian Science, and I wish it were possible to tell to all the joy, peace, comfort, and health which result from this new understanding of God and His manifestations.

Several years ago I slipped on an icy sidewalk, and in trying to prevent a fall I threw out my right arm, but at the same time twisted my back with such force that bones in both my back and shoulder were misplaced. The physician who was summoned, diagnosed the case as a bad sprain and recommended complete rest, rubbing, etc. After about six weeks I was able to be about, but could do only light work, as any sudden stooping would cause a catch in my back which would result in extreme suffering and confine me to bed for days at a time. It was impossible for me to raise my arm above my head; in fact, it was practically useless.

This condition lasted for three years. A number of physicians were consulted, but I received little and only temporary relief. Finally a specialist in another city put the bones in their proper places, and for a few weeks I was greatly relieved. Then one day I raised my arm and the bone in the shoulder again slipped out of place, and the suffering was greater than ever. The specialist adjusted the bone a second and a third time, but finally informed me that the condition could not be cured, as owing to the long misplacement, another groove had been formed into which the small bone would easily slip.
