Among the Churches

Current Notes

El Segundo, Cal.—Although their building is not quite complete as to paint and cement work, the Christian Science Society of El Segundo held the first service in their new chapel, corner of Concord and Mariposa streets, last Sunday morning [Feb. 21]. A few people interested in Christian Science held the first service in El Segundo last September at a private residence, and immediately made arrangements to rent the reception room of Hotel Grand for services Sunday and Wednesday evenings; but it was soon necessary to plan for more commodious quarters. The lot upon which the chapel stands was very kindly donated for this purpose by the El Segundo Land and Improvement Company. The building is of redwood, chalet roof, 24 by 32, with an addition in the rear for a reading-room, which it is expected will be opened in the near future.—El Segundo Herald.

Detroit, Mich.—Kenilworth Hall, 2120 Woodward avenure, has been leased for five years by Third Church of Christ, Scientist, for its church home, and the former quarters of the organization at 1495 Woodward avenue have been vacated. This hall has a seating capacity of six hundred and eight, while the old home seated but three hundred. Detroit Journal.

Cincinnati, Ohio.—The Christian Scientists are organizing a church in Norwood. First Church on Park avenue, Walnut Hills, has been overcrowded, necessitating an overflow. The new organization starts out under the happiest auspices and will hold its first service Sunday morning [Jan. 31] at Ideson Hall, South Norwood. Cincinnati Commercial-Tribune.
