Among the Churches

Current Notes

Toronto, Ontario, Canada .—The opening service of the new First Church of Christ, Scientist, at the corner of Lowther avenue and St. George street, was held yesterday [Jan. 3]. As the building is not yet quite completed, the service was held in the basement.—Toronto News.

Altoona, Pa.—During the year 1914, the distribution committee of the former Christian Science Society (church and society united in November, 1914) distributed 8,888 Monitors, 1,650 pieces of other literature, including Sentinels, Journals, reprints, pamphlets, and authorized miscellaneous articles. It placed the Monitor on sale at news stands, also on exchange with the four daily papers, and this last action brought forth many favorable comments. It secured the privilege for the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy to place works on Christian Science in the Altoona high school library, and also additional copies in the Mechanics library, both agreeing to catalogue these books as follows: "Christian Science, authorized," and all other books on the subject as "Christian Science, critical and unauthorized."
