It is almost four years since the light of Christian Science penetrated the seeming darkness in our home and brought us health, happiness, and plenty, where before there seemed to be a lack of all these things. My wife turned to Christian Science for the healing of chronic neuralgia, as material remedies gave only temporary relief. I had no faith in the healing efficacy of Christian Science, and when the disease responded so quickly to the treatment (in less than half an hour) I said that the pain was just ready to yield anyway. I then remarked that if Christian Science could heal the trouble in my ear, I would believe in it; so my wife insisted on my giving it a trial.

There had been a constant discharge from one ear for over three years. Different doctors had done all they could for me and a specialist in our city told me the ear could not be healed because the drum was punctured, and that if he should succeed in stopping the discharge, the first time I caught a cold it would be as bad as ever. I then concluded to give Christian Science a trial, but even when healing resulted after two treatments I refused to believe that Christian Science had anything to do with it. I said that if it would heal our son's face I would believe. This son, just arriving at manhood, had large sores or boils on his face and chest and the doctor had tried in vain to help him. Besides being very painful, this condition was humiliating to the boy, so when we asked him to try Christian Science treatment he readily consented. He was under treatment three weeks, when the practitioner pronounced him healed. His face looked as bad at that time as I had ever seen it, but in less than three weeks it was perfectly smooth.

I was no longer a doubting Thomas. From that day to this we have depended entirely on God for every human need, and we have never been disappointed, but have had many other proofs of God's power to heal.
