In August, 1913, I suddenly became so ill that I had to be taken to a hospital. I suffered with severe pain and felt very weak and miserable. The three examining physicians declared the trouble to be an infectious disease and believed an immediate operation on the head to be necessary. In this distressing condition I had a visit from an uncle who has been an adherent of Christian Science for quite a while. When he explained to me that I did not need to submit to an operation, I was very willing to be treated in Christian Science. He at once wrote to Hannover for help, with the result that after the first treatment I experienced a measure of relief. The operation was declared to be unnecessary, and two weeks later I was dismissed from the hospital healed. For this instance of help received I am most deeply thankful to God and to Christian Science.

It is three and a half years since a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy was placed in my hand by a dear neighbor, who asked me to read it. I did so, and before I had read half way through the book I was healed of stomach disorder, from which I had suffered for years, and also of heart trouble and nervousness. If these blessings had been all that the Father had in store for me, I should and would be thankful, but I have been receiving then every day since.
