I feel very thankful to God for the many blessings which have been revealed to me in Christian Science, both for the physical healing and the spiritual uplift. Fifteen years ago our first baby, one year old, was very sickly. The local doctors gave him up, telling my husband that nothing could be done for him. I then took him to a Christian Science practitioner, who was first one I had ever seen or heard of. In two weeks the child was completely healed, and an eruption on his head soon disappeared and the head was covered with beautiful curls. To me this seemed the most remarkable healing done since Jesus' time. I felt impressed that I ought to write a testimony, but I was afraid that if I did I would lose my standing in my old church and be eternally lost, for so many said that Christian Science was anti-Christ. When eight years old, this boy was taken suddenly sick with spinal meningitis, and because we were then five hundred miles from a Christian Science practitioner, we had a doctor and lost the boy. This, however, showed us that we needed a better understanding of the truth.

At my second baby's birth I had absent treatment and was perfectly free the second day. Thus we went on year after year, receiving treatment but without understanding Christian Science, until about two years ago, when another child was being treated. I was utterly miserable and discouraged, until one day new light came to me, and a clearer realization that God is Life. Since then I have not had a moment's doubt, but steady growth. I wish to speak particularly of one experience that occurred while this baby was having treatment. One night I was suddenly awakened by the thought, accompanied by the greatest happiness, that he was the child of our Father-Mother God. Then quietly the peaceful assurance came to me that he was cared for, and even as the loving Father kept Isaac from the altar of sacrifice, so He would keep me and mine if I would obey Him. I have learned that it is not church or creed that saves us, but as Christ Jesus has said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
